Small Church Communities

Is there something beyond weekend Mass to help you in your faith journey?

How about a Small Church Community!

What is a Small Church Community?

SCC Logo

These are small groups of 8 to 12 people who meet informally in someone's home. SCC members gather for fellowship and to share God's Word. The meetings last an hour and a half and are often centered on Scripture readings. These are not Bible study groups; they are not therapy groups. The discussions are not theological and it doesn't matter how familiar you are with Scripture. We supply various materials to provide insights into the readings, and during the meetings, group members share what the Scriptures mean to them personally, and how they have or want to apply them in their own life situations and struggles.

How can SCC help you grow in your faith journey?

SCC members are spiritual companions on the journey of life. They give each other understanding, support, prayer, encouragement - hope and serenity in the midst of difficulties; joy and gratitude for life's gifts. They form bonds of friendships that bring God's unconditional love to each other as together we discover God's presence in our daily lives. They help us to clarify the ways that God calls each one of us, and the community itself, to serve and love all of God's creation. Through the SCCs God's love and the parish's warmth and caring become concretely evident.

Why?

The St. Bonaventure Catholic Community is a warm and welcoming group of Christians, but to convey this warmth to you during weekend Masses can be difficult in a congregation as large as ours. It is not unusual for members to feel lost and ignored in the crowd. So we offer you many choices for getting to know us and for receiving the friendships available to you here at our Church.
