Food Pantry

SupportSupplies supplemental bag of groceries to families in need in Concord/Clayton area. Food is donated. Money is also donated to provide the purchase of additional food. Volunteers arrive at the Church every Tuesday at 8am to sort and bag food. Contact Peggy Sullivan at 672-5800


Gabriel Project

Natural Family Planning

Come join the growing number of couples in the parish practicing Natural Family Planning (NFP) - a safe, healthy and effective way to postpone or achieve pregnancy, as well as strengthen and enrich your marriage. Ongoing classes teaching NFP as well as support and social events.Contact at 288-1412

Alcohol & Drug Recovery Resource Ministry

This ministry reaches out to those who are suffering directly or indirectly from drug addiction or alcoholism. The group sponsors informational programs and activities to assist in the recovery process. We meet on the first Thursday of every month at 7 PM, if you would like to join us.

The ministry has a helpline, which provides confidential information and assistance concerning recovery. The helpline number is 439-4420. Contact Valerie Ochoa at (925) 798-6713.

Giving Tree

Yearly Advent event providing gifts for community members in need. Parishioners select gift requests and purchase, wrap and return the gifts to Church. Committee sorts and delivers items the week before Christmas. Contact Shana MacDonald at 673-9307

Habitat for Humanity

St. Bonaventure is a covenant church for Habitat. We provide both spiritual and practical support to this ecumenical Christian organization that builds decent, affordable housing for families in need. Contact Bill Pence at 672-5016

Homebound Parishioners

Provides weekly visits to those who are unable to leave their homes by Eucharistic Ministers. Eucharistic Ministers visit and pray with the homebound and provide them with the opportunity to receive Holy Communion. Contact parish office at 672-5800

Loaves & Fishes

This committee participates twice a month offsite in providing a hot meal for the homeless and others in need. Volunteers cook and serve the meal and/or clean up afterwards. The days worked are Fridays, and involvement is about 5 hours each time. Contact Mary Ann Kelly at 686-3815

Marsh Creek Detention Ministry

ScriptureThe emphasis of this ministry is to welcome all the men in the Marsh Creek Detention Facility (minimum-security facility located within parish boundaries) in need of spiritual sustenance. Non-judgmental acceptance of all men is stressed. Requires orientation and security clearance. Contact Kathy Barrere at 674-9140


Meals for Parishioners

Provides meals to parishioner families and individuals in need, on a temporary basis (i.e. a new baby, illness, death in the family, etc.) Willing to help prepare and deliver meals. Meals are provided on an "as requested" basis. Contact Sharon Cuff at 672-3047

Nursing Home Ministry

This ministry provides the Eucharist to those Catholics who are in the Casa San Miguel Nursing Home. Volunteers provide this service on the 1st & 3rd Tuesdays and the 2nd & 4th Sundays. Contact Al & Helen Starosciak at 672-5577

Parents of Gays & Lesbians

Support offered as needed; concerns and questions are met with understanding and compasison. Contact James & Mary Dickey at 676-0307

St. Mary’s Dinner

Parishioners provide dinner and entertainment for senior citizens of a parish in downtown Oakland, several times a year.

Social Justice Committee

This ministry responds to the immediate needs of our brothers and sisters and also works for social change.  If you are interested in either of these areas, you are most welcome to join us.  Meetings are held on the 2nd Saturday of the month in the mornings. Contact Pat Conroy at 672-7822

Widowed Support Ministry

This ministry provides group emotional, individual mentoring and prayer.  Assistance with handling the practical problems that arise in everyday life after losing a spouse are also addressed.
