Scrip Fund Raising for the St. Bonaventure Youth Education Program

Late News!

Thanks to a restructuring of the e Scrip program there is no longer an annual membership fee. Please disregard any reference to the fee when completing your application.

What is Scrip?

Scrip is a merchant-based fund raising program that allows a donation to be sent to the institution (benefits schools that support children and children's programs). The purchase level of the participant determines the level of donation; usually it is a percentage of the amount of monthly purchases. For example, the percentage for grocery stores is in the range of 2-4%.

You can conveniently apply now by printing and sending our St. Bonaventure application in English or Spanish.

Why are we introducing Scrip to our congregation for fund raising?

Scrip is successfully used for fund raising for schools in the area, both public and private. A percentage of everyday purchases such as groceries can be donated to St. Bonaventure Youth Education Program at no cost to St. Bonaventure. Scrip funds will be directed toward all the youth of St. Bonaventure.

How will the Scrip program compete with other St. Bonaventure fund raising?

The Scrip program should not compete with other fund raising, rather it will be incremental. The congregation is not making donations. Instead, based upon everyday consumer purchases, the merchants donate money back to the St. Bonaventure Youth Education Program.

How does St. Bonaventure receive credit/payment for Scrip?

St. Bonaventure will receive credit from the Scrip organization monthly. Depending upon the merchants, we will sometimes receive a flat percentage, while other merchants increase the donation amount based on the level of purchases.

Who can participate in the Scrip program?

We would like to see anyone who does not participate in another Scrip program to join the program. If you already participate in another program and would like to change or split your contributions you can do so using the application.

What is your cost to join the Scrip program?

The cost to join eScrip is $10 annually. This is for the entire program, not a fee for each card or merchant. This fee is transacted directly with Scrip, rather than with St. Bonaventure. Individual, local Scrip programs are raising in excess of $50,000 annually!

Who are the merchants in the program where we make everyday purchases?

The most frequently visited merchants will include Albertsons, Food for Less, and Safeway. We will make a full list available, but these merchants are a great start.

What types of purchases are excluded from credit under the Scrip program?

Exclusions for credit within the Scrip program include vendor coupon discounts, sales tax, cash back, U.S. postage stamps, lottery sports or amusement park tickets, commuter passes money orders, CA Redemption Value (CRV), and the portion of a pharmacy prescription not paid for by a customer.

How do you apply?

To enroll in the Scrip program, you register your "cards" on the Scrip application.

  • For Albertson's, we have applied for the Albertsons Community Partner card, which we will distribute to you at no charge.
  • For Food For Less, enter your ATM or debit card that you use there on the application
  • For Safeway, enter your Safeway Club Card on the application

At Albertson's and Safeway, you can pay with cash or credit card as long as you show your store card. The plans vary among some of the merchants, however by registering and using your credit card, there are many other merchants who accept the number on your card to track purchases and donations.

Where can I learn more about eScrip?

You can visit the eScrip web site at www.escrip.com. Please be sure to get your application here as we've already completed the St. Bonaventure information.
